Fewer than 1% of vehicles have windshields or systems that interfere with transactions using the windshield-mounted transponder. In this case, a license plate transponder (LPT) is required. All I need to do is change the plates on the E-ZPass system when I get the permanent ones right? Running EZ Pass with a temporary plate is never followed up on. One tree hill pilot episode. I don't think it's worth the hassle for them. In most cases, had the license plate been listed on the account, and the account was in good standing, the toll would have automatically posted to the account. For this reason, it is very important that license plate numbers are listed on your account for all vehicles using an E-ZPass tag. It is also important to assure that your account is in.

Good advice! I found this table, 'Fees for E-ZPass Personal Account by State', at E-ZPass - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. MD charges a monthly fee of $1.50 while NY doesn't charge a monthly fee.
Also, on the same link, it says, 'E-ZPass users are not required to maintain their account with an agency in their home state. Subscribers can open an E-ZPass account with any member of the IAG regardless of residency. This means that users have the option of choosing an agency based on the fees that it charges, effectively allowing them to circumvent transponder and account maintenance fees.'
Maybe I should set up a MA EZ pass account, because there is no fee and there is no minimum balance requirement for any EZ pass account in MA. I dare not deal with NY because they're rude and harsh.
However, I heard that some states may give a discount for EZ pass holders on their highways. For instance, MD may give a discounted rate for MD EZ pass holders when they cross certain toll booths in MD. Is that true?
I'll need to understand both MD and MA toll policies before making a final decision.
