Jun 20, 2015 Setup the Raid 0 using microsofts build in software raid. Bios raid and MS raid are both software. The performanc e isnt different but ease of use is. MS is easier and transportable. MS raid you can move to another windows pc if need be. If you do bios raid you're going to have to move to another board with the same raid controller. Microsoft always phases-out older technology in favor of newer one. If you really want the classic RAID, you'll need the Pro or Enterprise editions of Windows 10. Storage Spaces are volumes rendered upon spanned pools utilizing multiple drives, in effect the same as RAID, just much easier to set up.
I consider myself to be quite tech savvy. I built a computer such that Windows 7 is currently running on a 500 GB hard drive, and I have a RAID 0 array consisting of two 1 TB drives (2 TB total storage space). The RAID array is where I store all my music, photos, documents, programs, etc. and the 500 GB drive hosts Windows 7 (and soon Windows 10) and a smattering of other things that I'd rather be on it than the RAID array.
Long story short, when I go to upgrade to Win10, will everything be good to go right out of the gate, or will I need to install the RAID driver during the Win10 upgrade process? Is there anything I should be aware of before upgrading? I have run Win10 preview builds in a VM and it seems very user friendly and it just 'feels' like everything will work. My thinking is that since I'm installing Win10 on the 500 GB drive, it shouldn't touch anything whatsoever in the RAID array, and since my current Windows 7 install has the RAID drivers installed, they should work with Win10. At least the upgrade compatiblity report in the Get Windows 10 app shows that my computer is fully compatible, and it shows no compatibility issues with any drivers currently installed.
